I completely forgot where I found this piece of Intarwebz flotsam, but it gives me the chuckles every time.
Irving Mainway would love it.
I had another one of those pseudo-ads around, but I lost it somewhere along the line. That one was for a motorized little toddler car called “Johnny Freeway”. The caption read “Follow Daddy To Work!”, it had a toddler behind the wheel, and the whole contraption was photoshopped onto a busy highway.
Yeah, my sense of humor is a bit odd.

That reminds me of Dan Akroyd’s old bit on Saturday Night Live when he played the slimy president of a toy company. He was being grilled by newscaster Jane Curtain and she held up a bag of oily rags and a lighter. He called it the “Little Johnny Human Torch” costume. There were some other good ones but that’s the one that always sticks in my head.

Jim-
That WAS Irving Mainway.
I personally liked the “big bag ‘o broken glass”…

Irving Mainway! I’m glad someone could remember it.
Wasn’t there a Teddy Bear filled with nails and sawdust, too?

That was Chain Saw Teddy Bear…a big-ass stuffed bear with a real chainsaw in his belly.

I liked the SNL fake commercialadvertising the Meat Wagon racetrack set. It involved when the racecars crash, you could put this ambulance on the track and run it up to the crashed cars, and then use some tweezers to pull a burned black looking driver out of the racecar and put him in the ambulance.

The Bag O’ Razors & the Big Plastic Bag was my favorite children’s toys.
