on the ritualistic charring of animal flesh.

Any of you folks in the Greater BoSox Allegiance Zone interested in a meet-’n-feed at Casa Munchkin Wrangler some time in the next few weeks?

It just dawned on me that we’ve been in the new house for close to six months now, and I haven’t met any local bloggers and Intarwebz pals yet.  Now that the snow is gone, and the temperatures are climbing, we can actually hang out on the back patio and throw some dead critter onto the grill, shoot some guns, and do some of that socializing that everyone keeps raving about.

We’re in the Upper Valley, west-central NH, right by Lebanon and Hanover…an easy shot up (or down) I-89 or I-91.  Chime in if you’re interested and willing to make the drive.  It’s about an hour from the MA border if you come up I-91 through VT, and little more if you come up via I-93/89 through Manchester and Concord.

Bring the kids if you have ‘em, and absolutely bring whatever guns you want to shoot/show off.

What say you?

Count me in. Dunno if I can bring the wife/kids, but I can bring a smattering of arms for the occasion…

Just need a time and I’ll make the necessary arrangements!

  2. ChrisB Says:

What kind of bourbon do you prefer? Personally I think Maker’s Mark is the business, and it’s also Walken’s preferred booze.

I’m in! Might be able to bring the wife, the 6 year old (and his Daisy Red Ryder), and the 2-year old. They don’t eat much anyway. Always good to hang with a fellow at-home Dad.

I’m just about an hour North, not a long trek, really. Drop me a line when you’re a few days from firing up that grill.

  4. Marko Says:

Maker’s Mark is the preferred brand here at Munchkin Acres, too.

Dang! Wish you were closer. My home to yours - okay, Lebanon, NH, is 360 miles, call it 6 1/2 hours each way. That’s gonna be a hard one to get the wife on board. However, we do have some friends in CT, around Enfield. So, if we go there for a long weekend this summer (already planning on it, still have to see if it happens or not) I would only be 2 hours away. Would you mind meeting for a lunch and shoot? I’ll drop you a line when we’re headed that way.

I’d love to make a trip up to meet you if you’ll have me. I’ve only commented once or twice before but, I’m an avid reader. I’d be happy to share a ride with someone from northeast MA to save gas.

Well, I’d love to especially since I just found out you are German. I have a vault full of old guns including most of the older (WWII and before) military arms. It would be great fun to come by and shoot the guns and shoot the shit.

Unfortunately, I live just north of Miami and I could not get the time off right now. I’m also Vegan so I’m sure I’d be the life of the party.

    Thanks anyway. Maybe next time.

I don’t want to be presumptuous that I would be included in this invite but I live about 50 minutes away from West Leb on I89 in VT. I would love to meet you and your fellow bloggers and especially love to join you folks in a good old fashioned meet, greet, and shoot. Please email me at the address above if you wouldn’t mind having me attend, I’m happy to contribute meat, beverages, and ammo. I hope to hear from you, what a great idea!

Ooh, nice area. I’ll be up at my friend’s family’s old haunts in Fairlee, VT this September for a wedding. I loved going up there as a kid, and there was an old gravel pit nearby where we could haul off with our .22’s. We learned that while his 10/22 was faster through a single mag, across an entire box I could keep up single-loading my grandpa’s 1950 Savage-4C bolt(magazine lost to the decades). Lesson’s for life. :-)

    Cheers,

All the cool kids are having blog meetups. ;)

  12. Dot Says:

    Whuh! I wanna be THERE!

  13. doubletrouble Says:

Sounds cool Marko. I’m on the bottom end of NH, so it’s not too bad a ride.
    Definitely interested…

  14. Troy Says:

Can’t make it to NH, but next time you are in MI you are welcome to spend an evening with my wife and kids. The wife and I are always looking for reasons to get out the guns and poke holes in paper.

Depending on the time of year you may be able to hunt it, kill it AND eat it (all from our back deck).

Pick a date and tell me what to bring. Len

  16. Arcticelf Says:

I’d love to come up for that.

    What can I bring?

Also: want another dog for the party? We have a 5 month old Basenji pup.

  17. Marko Says:

    MP/SG,

you’re more than welcome to join in, of course.

    Rick,

sure thing! I’m at home seven days out of the week, so it shouldn’t be a problem. Let me know when you’re heading up to CT.

    Troy,

I’ll do my best to take you up on that offer sometime.

    Arcticelf,

bring some beverages, and whatever guns you don’t mind me ogling/begging to try out. Bring the pup, too…the more, the merrier.

I’ll try to nail down a date soon…I’m thinking early June.

  18. M. Philbrick Says:

    Marko,
Thank you very much for including me, I hope I can make it. I’ll be in the area anyway during the first week in June, unfortunately from the 13th on I will be at my reserve unit’s annual training for two weeks. So either the weekend of the 1st or 7th would work great. Hope to see all of you!

    Mike
