Here’s the brand new three-year-old and her vaguely Winnie the Pooh-shaped birthday cake:
Cake and milk for the kids, Scotch and assorted brews for the adults, barbecue chicken and baked beans for all. Great success!
Now to start the post-party ritual of the Washing of the Dishes…

One of my favorite quotes from the Internet:
“‘Oh bother’ said Pooh, as he chambered another round.”
What kind of cake was that?
Robin’s awesome pound cake mixed with a fluffy cake mix from King Arthur Flour, poured into a bear-shaped cake pan. The pound cake gives it more stability for the bear shape.
That’s an awesome idea, the pound cake part. Not quite sure what ‘T’ will want for her next Bday, but she’ll be 3 and more able to tell me exactly besides “Tink”, like this year.
Mind using something to differentiate yourself from me? I didn’t write your comment.
My wife used her grandmothers lamb cake mold to make two cakes for Easter. One turned out great but due to not using the right recipe the head fell off the second one. We told everyone that he was sleeping, with his little head next to him.
I hope no one had the poor taste to yell “Allahu Akbar!” as Pooh Bear was being beheaded…
Perfect! I remember those days. They fly by fast even with loads of awareness and intention. Relish your beautifully mundane days.
Remind the kiddos often, in a sincere voice so they’ll not have a doubt, “You’re having a happy childhood.”
“There can be only one!”
