peter s. beagle could use your help.

Peter S. Beagle is a Hugo- and Nebula-winning author.  His best-known work is without a doubt The Last Unicorn, which I consider one of the Top Ten fantasy novels of all time.

Peter S. Beagle could use your help.  If you’ve ever enjoyed any of his works (and if you like fantasy and haven’t read The Last Unicorn, you are missing out big time), go and buy a subscription to his 52/50 project, or purchase a copy of one of his books or DVDs.  You’ll get some fine writing for your coin, and you’ll help a supremely talented and influential author keep a roof over his head.

The sad truth is that writing is right down there with teaching and waiting tables when it comes to compensation.  The J.K. Rowlings and Stephen Kings of the world are rare and happy exceptions, and the vast majority of writers I know have a day job, working spouse, or other income-generating gigs on the side, because almost nobody can live from writing alone…not even award-winning genre authors with Hugos and Nebulas on their bookshelves.

Just in case you have some book money jingling around in your pocket, and you haven’t yet decided how to spend it:

Here’s where you can buy the 40th Anniversary Edition of The Last Unicorn.

Here’s where you can subscribe to Peter S. Beagle’s 52/50 project, which will get you a brand new poem or original song lyric per email every week for a year.

If you decide to go and check out the Conlan Press site, take a look around and see what else strikes your fancy.  The man has written a lot of very fine stuff over the years, and there are far worse ways to spend some cash.

Thank you for the heads up!
I read The Last Unicorn in the early 70’s and loved it.
I am now going to be the proud owner of the 40th edition (signed of course) and can’t wait to read it again.

Never read The Last Unicorn, always happy to support an author ’cause I get reads into the bargain 😉

Thanks for telling me about this. I just went and ordered an autographed version of the Last Unicorn for my 2-year-old.
